Here's all you need to know about the Ultra World Championship in Morzine.
1- Weekend schedule
All ULTRA WC activities will take place on the Tourist Office square.
Thursday, July 3 - Tourist Office square.
15:00-19:30: ULTRA registration opens
18:00 : Opening ceremony
18:30: Athlete briefing - mandatory participation for all championship athletes
19:00: Parade of Nations
Friday, July 4th - Tourist Office square.
7:00: Elite start
7:05-7:40: Age Group start - Precise start times will be announced shortly.
7:45-7:55: Ultra Open start
14:00 (approximate time): First Ultra racer crossing the finish line. Ultra World Championship Flower ceremony
Saturday, July 5 - Tourist Office square.
18:30: Ultra World Championship Elite & Age Group awards ceremony
2- Mandatory equipment
A device able to carry the equipment (backpack, racing vest or other) with inside :

1 Waterproof headlamp recommended, additional batteries recommended
- 1 red flashlight, to be attached to the back of your backpack/race vest
- 1 survival blanket
- 1 emergency whistle
- 1 Hydration system - minimum capacity 1L of water in any type of container (kamelbag, flasks, etc.)
All items on this list must be carried throughout the entire race. A check will be held before the start line. Any missing item will result in the athlete's non-start.
Random checks may be held during the race. Missing equipment will result in disqualification. However, You will be able to restock in the transition area.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
All prohibited items are described in the official Spartan rules. Fires and stoves (e.g. jetboil) are forbidden in the transition area, on the festival grounds and on the course.
3- Transition Area (TA)
A specific Spartan Ultra bag with a capacity of 20L will be distributed to all Ultra participants when they collect their race bib. Only this bag will be permitted in the Transition Zone and will allow you to take the equipment of your choice (refreshments, spare clothes, food, etc.).
Please note: No bag check will be available on the Ultra format, so it will not be possible to leave personal belongings behind, except by using the bag in the transition zone, within the limits of its capacity. No other bags or equipment will be accepted by the organization.
The transition area opens on Friday, July 4 at :
- 6:00-6:45: Elite and Age Group drop-off
- 6:45-7:55: Drop-off for Open riders
The following items are provided in the transition area:
- Drinkable water
- Food such as fruit, cakes, salted food, etc.
- Waste garbage cans
- Toilets
Important: Participants will not have access to electrical plugs or a heat source. Spectators and support staff are not allowed in the Transition Area. No assistance (spectator or medical) will be allowed in this area. However, you will be allowed to use your own equipment (bandages, tape, etc.).
5- Aid stations
Throughout the Ultra course, there will be 10 aid stations, plus 1 in the Transition Zone and 1 at the Finish Zone.
Five of them will be liquid only.
The course profile, along with the exact locations and contents of the aid stations, will be announced soon.
6- Cut Off
RACE TIME MANAGEMENT:
To ensure athlete safety and effectively manage race progress, time barriers will be introduced after the first lap.
- First Cut-Off (Lap 1): An initial time limit will be set to complete the first lap and reach the Transition Zone.
- Progressive Cut-Offs: Additional time restrictions will apply at various points along the course leading to the finish line. See details below.
For safety reasons, the Organization reserves the right to modify the timing and location of the Cut-Offs up until race day.
